My name is Jalen, I was born in St.Louis Missouri. I started developing a serious love for music at a young age. I would feel things when I listened to music that I could’t explain. I have always been someone with deep and introspective thoughts even as a child. I’d listen to music and be blown away by someones ability to make melody I couldn’t stop listening to, or write lyrics that rhymed together, and yet told a story so vivid.Even though I loved music, I often heard growing up that I missed the musical gene in our family, or that I had no rhythm. I think the desire I had to be a great artist, overpowered any words from family members or peers that attempted to deter me from my goals.I just kept doing it, and doing it, and doing it, and eventually something happened, I got good. Here is a truth I must tell. My childhood was riddled with abuse from my father. Threats, yelling, manipulation, physical beatings, and even brain washing were common place in my household. Going through that and coming out of it with a loving heart, and a strong dedication to do good gives me confidence. Confidence that I have something to do, something to give. I plan wake up every day and move towards that purpose. I’d love for you to join me.
